- "O Sr. Lelar me deu um papel para a prisão de Crow Dog. Encontrei o réu em uma colina entre White River e Rosebud Creek, onde fiz a prisão. O réu não estava vestido na época, exceto um cobertor, cueca e perneiras e estava a cavalo. Fiz o que me foi ordenado e levei o réu para o Forte Niobara.
