    • John Adams died on July 4, 1826. Ironically, Thomas Jefferson had died just a few hours earlier. Some depictions of Adams' final words indicate he might have not expressed the entire statement before dying, ie: "Thomas Jefferson… still survi—", but this is unreliable.
